The
Pleasant View Volunteer Fire Department was dispatched
to a
reported house fire on January 25th, 2008 at 1857 hours.
Other PVVFD units were already en route to or on scene
of a MVC rollover on the opposite end of our response
area at the time of alarm.
The
PVVFD responded with 1 Engine, 1 Tanker, a Command
Vehicle, and
a support unit initially to the incident. A Heavy Squad
later responded once they cleared the previous MVC. The
Ashland City FD provided a Safety Officer, and RCEMS
provided a unit for standby.
Upon
arrival, the first due Engine reported flames visible
from
Side "A" of a one story
single family dwelling. Fire was coming through a window
and had extended to the attic/roof. Neighbors reported
that no one was home but some family pets may still be
inside.
An 1-3/4 line was advanced to the front door for
fire extinguishment. Forcible Entry was performed and
the attack crew was met with a moderate smoke condition
throughout the dwelling. The line was pushed in and a
quick knockdown was achieved.
The room of origin was
opened up to reveal extension into the attic/roof line
that was quickly contained. A primary search of the
premises proved negative for occupants or pets. A
thermal imager and other tools were used during the
process of overhaul and secondary search.
The
cause appeared to be related to furniture that was
placed in front of a heater.
Fire Investigators were on the scene to determine cause
and origin.
There were no
residential fire sprinklers in this home. |
