3-19-2008

Just after 9:am, the Pleasant View Volunteer Fire Department was dispatched to a reported structure fire on Pinnacle Circle, which is located within the town limits of Pleasant View.

Engine 401 arrived to find a detached 3-car garage, fully involved and spreading to the 3700-square-foot single-family home.  The occupants of the home had been alerted by neighbors, and had safely evacuated the structure.

With no fire hydrants nearby and limited available staffing, the fire quickly spread to the residential structure, which was not equipped with fire sprinklers.  The result was a total loss.

Fire departments from Ashland City, Springfield, Two Rivers, and White House Community responded to assist.

Disappointed in the outcome, PVVFD Fire Chief Shane Ray referred to the event as a "suppression staffing, fire prevention, building code, and zoning ordinance failure."
