Pleasant View Volunteer Fire Department was incorporated
in April of 1970. Founding incorporators were Richard
Jackson, T.R. Drake, Don Nicholson, Noel Neville,
Hilliard Heathman, Harry Murphy, Pete Barnes, Larry Lee,
Bob Justice, and Lauren Hunt.
These visionary leaders of the Pleasant View community
listed the purpose of the organization on the Charter of
Incorporation as: operating, maintaining and providing
a fire department to prevent, and fight fires and to
further promote and encourage fire prevention and safety
in the area covered by this service; to acquire all
necessary fire fighting equipment and apparatus so as to
offer and provide an adequate fire protection service to
and for the people and property in the area covered by
this service, the welfare of the community so
demanding. Through exhibits, posters and educational
programs to educate the public in fire prevention for
the protection of their lives and property; to maintain
fire station, fire trucks, equipment.
Today's leadership continues this proud tradition of
professional service and fire service protection. Shane
Ray, life-long resident of Pleasant View serves as Fire
Chief. and P.J. Duncan serves as Assistant Chief.
Captains are Larry Armstrong, Jeremy Martin and Trey
Nelms. This group leads a team of 50 professional
volunteers.
The department serves the cities of Pleasant View and
Coopertown, as well as portions of Cheatham and
Robertson counties. This area covers approximately 200
square miles and includes approximately 19,000 citizens.
The area is near Nashville, Tennessee and is about to
experience the growth associated with the location.
Pleasant View Volunteer Fire Department is working
progressively to grow with the area and to be prepared
for the challenges such growth brings.
Chief Ray recognizes that it is the abilities of his
volunteers that has created a very progressive fire
department. He knows that the growth of the area will
place new demands on the department, especially in the
area of life safety. It is his vision that the Pleasant
View Volunteer Fire Department will lead the way in
educating all members of the community to the most
current and best fire protection services available.
Working together, it is indeed possible for everyone
involved to become more. The challenges will be many,
but the determination, dedication, and commitment of the
Pleasant View Volunteer Fire Department and all members
of this community ensure that we will all be a part of a
bright future. |
