PVES Walk of the Town

Pleasant View FD is one of the stops on the walk of the Town that the Pleasant View Elementary School holds every year.  Each year the 3rd graders have the chance to walk the town and visit several of the local spots of interest.  The PVFD has been a favorite on this walk for years.  According to some of the 3rd graders, we are the “best” stop.  The FD spends a lot of time with the children on prevention and education.  This is taken very seriously and the kids know this, but they also know that this day is a day of fun.

We start out with a prevention message and a recap on everything the kids have learned in the past.  Then it is on with the fun.  The children were shown the air bags in action, rescue equipment, turn out gear, and SCBA.  They were also allowed to spray water from a fire hose.  Some even got wet.  Imagine that with 3rd graders.  The teachers were asked to dress in full PPE and pictures were taken for the school.  This was a huge success and the children will remember this for a lifetime.
