Many of you have asked about our new station and when it will be up and running. We would like to share our plans as we enter the “home stretch” of opening the PVVFD’s new Station 1 (1129 Main Street).
While we are buttoning up a few loose ends, we plan to have a “Grand Opening” for our PVVFD “Fire Family” on Saturday, February 29th. This will include a few fire service-related ceremonies, a “first meal”, and the opportunity for our life members (20+ years of service to the PVVFD) to spend the first overnight shift in the station. Everyday response operations will then transition to Station 1 on March 1st. Our administrative offices will remain at our location on Highway 49 East.
We plan to have an “Open House” in the spring (most likely on a weekend in April) when the weather is a little warmer. This time will also coincide with the PVVFD’s 50th Anniversary date. The warmer weather should allow us to raise our bay doors, grill hot dogs and hamburgers, and provide us the opportunity to give you full access to our new home. We will give tours of the facility and be available to answer questions. We realize some of you may not be able to attend the weekend open house, so we plan to offer additional times to open the station to you during the following week. We will post specific dates and times for our Community Open House as the event gets closer.
We are excited about our new station and look forward to moving in very soon. We thank you for the patience and support we’ve received over the last several months during our Station 1 project. We look forward to serving you for another 50 years from a functional, historical, and beautiful station that our communities can be proud of.
